I’m sure absolutely no one is surprised to learn that I love this movie. Why shouldn’t I? It’s funny, just plain fun, and chock full of memorable moments that always make me smile!
Kevin is an eight-year-old kid who’s a part of the massive McAllister family. When they leave for vacation in a rush and accidentally leave him behind, it will soon be up to him to protect his house while on his own.
There are a lot of things to praise about Home Alone. How it manages to handle so many different subplots all at once so effectively based on a fairly simple premise. How unique its premise is compared to other holiday movies. How it has two of the most entertaining holiday movie villains in history. How likable every single other character is, even at their worst moments. How it manages to be a coming-of-age story about a kid becoming more independent hidden behind a goofy family comedy.
But, instead, I’m just going to say this: this is the movie to watch if you’re feeling down. This is the movie to watch if what you want is a small dose of pure, feel-good holiday fun.
